Worldwide Art

2 Clock Hours of Early Childhood Education
Our world is a big one that is made of people from many walks of life who have different traditions and cultures. These cultures and traditions are deeply rooted in a person’s identity and daily lives. Teaching these cultures in an artistic form allows young children to experience new traditions in a hands-on way. Children who spend time learning about other cultures are more respectful of diversity and differences in the people they interact with. This course will discuss how to introduce art from many cultures, why multicultural art is important, how to avoid biases and more. Along with the training there will be sample lesson plans for educators to use in their classrooms and the opportunity for self-reflection.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Explain the social and emotional development elements inherent in multicultural art
  • Discuss bias prevention for multicultural art and education
  • Discuss the introduction options with multicultural art
  • Analyze several lesson plan examples for the support of social and emotional development in young children
